Pregnancies of the Mind
I am Africa
Eternally pregnant with endless possibilities
We are the minkisi of hope, of endurance
And of flowing rivers of our lands
We rise to receive baptismals
Of life from horns of animals
That freely roam our land
Free as the wind until poachers arrive
They poached us for centuries
Our bodies walk free now,
Our minds still perform
Monkey tricks for the master
We shall give birth under a bridge
As torrential rains of hope fall!
